Car Donation Charity Spotlight
Volunteeers of America
Back in 1896, Ballington and Maud Booth realized a need for 'reaching and uplifting' the American people. They made a pledge to 'go wherever we are needed and do whatever comes to hand.' The Volunteers of America organization was born from that line of thinking, and even today the charity's outreach efforts are centered around that pledge.

The early 1900's saw this organization heavily involved in caring for those in poverty. Through organized day nurseries and summer camps, they provided assistance and hope. Volunteers of America also established the nation's first system of halfway houses for released prisoners.
During both World Wars, Volunteers of America was in service nationwide. They organized community salvage drives, collecting millions of pounds of raw material to be reused in the war effort. They also ran canteens, and provided overnight lodging sites for soldiers and sailors home on leave. Those serving on the homefront were not forgotten either, as Volunteers of America provided affordable housing and childcare services for defense industry workers.
Today, the Volunteers of America is composed of nearly 16,000 paid, professional employees, and approximately 65,000 volunteers, all working together to make a difference for some of America's most vulnerable groups. Volunteers of America touches the lives of about 2 million individuals every year, in 46 states as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
The organization is very efficient with funds received from car donations. In fact, according to the Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio, 89 cents of every dollar donated to Volunteers of America goes back to their charity programs. This puts the Volunteers of America into a distinguished group of charities that are among the very best at converting your gift into a better life for those in need.
If you have a car that can no longer be used by you or your family, consider donating it to Volunteers of America today. It's quick and easy -- and you can feel good knowing that your donation will help neighbors in your own community. Why wait?
